What Your Zodiac Sign Says About Your Hosting Style

A collage of all zodiac symbols against a night sky background.

Written by Jessica Allen

The position of celestial bodies at the time of your birth can impact many aspects of your life, like how emotional you are, how you handle stress and, yes, even how you feel about playlists, guest lists and tablescapes. But fear not: Our guide to how each zodiac sign throws a party will give you insight into your own hosting dos and don’ts as well as an understanding of what you might be in for when you RSVP to someone else’s soirée.

Aries

March 21–April 19

The High-Energy Host

The first sign of the zodiac, Aries is full of gutsy, take-charge energy. This fiery sign isn’t afraid to express its opinions. At the same time, Aries enjoys celebrating and doesn’t need much of an excuse to arrange a get-together. In fact, you could argue that Aries often is the party. Arian parties aren’t fussy or stuffy. Rather, they’re boisterous and possibly even a little slapdash, more house party than tea party, more come-as-you-are than formal affair. Just don’t try to switch the music or ask to modify your appetizer.

Taurus

April 20–May 20

The Homebody Host

This homebody sign likes to welcome people into their luxe lair. There, you will find excellent lighting, sensational-smelling candles, interesting art, centerpieces with a delightful mix of textures, velvety throws expertly folded on comfy couches, everything in serene shades like taupe and cream—Taurus embraces all five senses and relishes an atmosphere of sophisticated civility at soirées. Food will lean toward farm-to-table and organic, as befitting this earth sign. Music will be low to encourage intimate conversation. The entire effect will be poised and beautiful.

Gemini

May 21–June 20

The Social Butterfly Host

Charming and quick-witted, Gemini loves to facilitate connections, especially unexpected ones. “Jahari and Jaden, you both played field hockey in high school,” a Gemini host will say, or “Mel, meet Mei. Favorite karaoke song, go!” Nevertheless, Gemini recognizes that not all attendees may be as social as they are, so their parties often feature activities to guarantee that no one is lonely or left out. Expect interesting icebreakers, parlor games and open wifi to make sure that everyone captures everyone else’s contact info. Parties are truly this sign’s happy place.

Cancer

June 21–July 22

The Warmhearted Host

Cancer lives to care for others, and this trait goes double at parties. The Cancer host wants guests to feel fêted. As such, you shouldn’t bother asking whether you can do anything to help out. Instead, sit back and nosh on the comfort food that’s sure to be served. Maybe watch the game or drink a beer. This sign inevitably prefers to put the focus on everyone else, which means you can count on Cancer to organize the birthday, bach or surprise party—and to start suggesting dates in your group chat months in advance.

Leo

July 23–August 22

The Attention-Getting Host

A Leo event is as theatrical and attention-grabbing as those born under this sign. Since Leo adores the spotlight, their parties will be decidedly Insta-worthy, complete with bespoke hashtags, a photo booth well-stocked with props and possibly even a step-and-repeat with a red carpet. Glasses will overflow, music will be loud and compliments will be veritably demanded (in person and on the socials). Costumes or fancy dress may be required. The key word, above all, is excess. A Leo party never runs out of anything, including attendees clamoring for an invite. The guest list will be long.

Virgo

August 23–September 22

The Detail-Oriented Host

Detail-oriented Virgo is obsessed with a good checklist. Because this sign tends toward perfectionism, an aura of intensity can sometimes hover about when it comes to party planning. Virgo usually starts with a distinct vision, from a specific dress code to custom cocktails to a seating chart, and can have a hard time if things start to deviate. If Virgo’s not careful, this ’tude can threaten to overshadow the point of a party—that is, to have fun. Keeping one of those delightful cocktails close at hand can help calm things down.

Libra

September 23–October 22

The Easygoing Host

Simply put, outgoing Libra makes a fantastic host. This sign cherishes balance and harmony and possesses an uncanny ability to stay unflappable, no matter the disaster. Leaky tent? Move everyone to the garage and hang tinsel from the spare tires. Overcooked turkey? Order a pizza, then lead an animated convo about which weird toppings actually work. While Libra tends to be elegant and refined in terms of personal style, they take a less overdetermined approach to parties, intuitively grasping that the best get-togethers allow for a wee bit of randomness and mess.

Scorpio

October 23–November 21

The Beguiling Host
Scorpio gets our vote for the sign “most likely to host the after-after-party.” Secretive, mysterious and goth-adjacent, this sign exudes a sexy cool. The Scorpio party might have a password, just for kicks, or might be held in an abandoned warehouse that your Uber driver won’t be able to find. Guests should be ready to flirt and engage in sassy banter. Scorpio’s confidence extends to hosting duties, which means Scorpio doesn’t spend energy overthinking things. Instead, a Scorpio host will zero in on whatever they do best—overseeing meal prep, say, or manning the bar—and delegate everything else.

Sagittarius

November 22–December 21

The Cosmopolitan Host
Sagittarius brings a love of knowledge and adventure to party planning. The Sag party might feature a playlist full of new-to-you tunes or a menu of new-to-you delicacies, all the better for Sagittarius to regale guests with their tales of travel. Although this sign is perfectly capable of being the entertainment, with wit enough to illuminate any room, the Sagittarius host also knows when to step back and let the dynamics shift. As a result, Sagittarian shindigs frequently offer opportunities for trivia, board games and spirited discussions of culture or politics.

Capricorn

December 22–January 19

The Memory-Making Host

Capricorn has a sentimental side and isn’t afraid to show it. You can count on a Cap to maintain family traditions across generations, such as hanging lamps on Diwali or painting eggs at Easter. When it comes to parties, what matters most to Capricorn is the making of memories. Thus, Capricorn will go to terrific lengths to make memorable moments (or photo ops) aplenty, like matching pajamas for everyone at a weekend house party. In addition, Capricorn never forgets to send their guests off with a thoughtful parting gift like homemade cookies.

Aquarius

January 20–February 18

The Idiosyncratic Host

There is no typical Aquarius party, since this sign values uniqueness above all. An Aquarius invite might be a cryptic DM: “back deck, 9:03 pm, bring wine & fav stuffed animal.” Or it could be a hyper-specific, kind of elaborate theme like “Taylor Swift Eras Tour Robot” or “1980s Après Ski.” Nonetheless, Aquarius also values spontaneity, which explains why they always seem to have a fully stocked bar, mini projector, foam machine and boas on hand. Decidedly independent, Aquarius doesn’t stand on ceremony—feel free to walk right in, and don’t expect much small talk.

Pisces

February 19–March 20

The Otherworldly Host
Sensitive and empathetic, the Pisces host will always step out of the kitchen to ask whether you’re having a good time in the living room. Saying “yes” will help Pisces relax and enjoy the vibe they spent so much time cultivating beforehand. As the most mystical of signs, Pisces relishes creativity and exudes a dreamy sensibility. The party space will be transformed into something otherworldly, all the better to let guests escape their cares for a spell. Forget about an evening spent debating current events. Instead, Pisces hosts give their guests a place to slip into a different dimension.

What is a signup sheet?

Signup sheets are the perfect way to streamline scheduling, volunteer recruitment, class parties, snack duty, potluck organization, parent-teacher conferences and more! You can think of them as your digital assistant for coordinating events and tasks and ensuring that your event is a success.

Evite SignUp Sheets offers parents, teachers and event planners customizable online forms that organizers and volunteers can access and update effortlessly. Volunteers can choose their preferred time slots, sign up for tasks or indicate what they'll bring to the event. It only takes organizers a few minutes to create a signup sheet and send it out with a shareable link, so they can get the word out via text, email or social media—whichever way they prefer!

Long story short, signup sheets save everyone involved tons of time, avoid scheduling headaches and ensure everything runs smoothly before and during the event.

How do I create a signup sheet?

Creating a signup sheet has never been easier than with Evite! Here’s how to create a sheet that’s sure to make your event an absolute success:

  1. Go to Evite SignUp Sheets and choose the template that best fits your needs. Evite offers multiple signup sheet templates perfect for every occasion, including:
    • Signup sheets for one day events (without different time slots), perfect for when you’re organizing a class party, potluck or end-of-season party.
    • Signup sheets for single or multiple day events (with time slots), perfect for when you’re organizing concession stand volunteers, fundraisers, parent-teacher conferences, meal train, post-game snack duty or during appreciation week.
  1. After selecting your sheet template, create a title for your signup sheet and add the date, the location, the time (if applicable), who the organizer is, the organizer’s phone number or email and an optional note describing the event to your volunteers. You can also change your signup sheet background and title image if you wish!
  1. Next, create slots for your signup sheet. If you aren’t logged into your account, you will need to do so at this point, but luckily, you can use your existing Evite account (no need to create yet another login!). What you’ll include here will depend on what your event needs, but you can include a list of what’s needed (along with optional descriptions), how many volunteers are needed, and dates and times.
  1. After creating your slots, you can then add a wish list from any retailer or include supply suggestions from Evite’s retailer partners. These are to help your volunteers find and purchase supplies quickly and easily.
  1. Finally, review your sheet, copy your shareable link and send it out to everyone on your list! Every time a volunteer signs up for a slot on your signup sheet, Evite will email you. We will also send reminders to you and your volunteers before your event so no one will forget about it, and we’ll even let volunteers know if you remove their slot or cancel your event sheet so you don’t have to!

What information should be included on a signup sheet?

When it comes to signup sheet information, there are some essentials to include regardless of what you’re organizing:

  1. A title for your signup sheet. Tip: Aim to keep your signup sheet title concise but clear. You want volunteers to read it and have a general understanding of what your event is about, and also make it easy for them to look for later if they need to reference your sheet again. You have the option to include a more descriptive note in a different field about your event, so save the more in-depth details for that!
  1. When and where the event is taking place.
  1. The organizer’s name and phone number.
  1. Slots for volunteers to choose from. Once you choose the SignUp Sheets template that fits the occasion, the slots you’ll need for your sheet will be right there and ready for you to add the relevant info, such as dates, times, items to bring and tasks to complete.

When adding your slot information, clearly define what people are signing up for, especially for a what-to-bring list or role assignments. If you want someone to bring healthy snacks for kids to enjoy after a game, specify that. You want your volunteers to feel confident in what they’re bringing and to make it easy for them to know what’s expected of them. It will save them time and stress (and you, too!). That being said, if you make your ask too specific (for example, asking for a hard-to-source item or something expensive), you may not end up with a volunteer for it. So be clear about what you expect, but also be reasonable!

Aside from providing the basic signup information, you can also add optional descriptions to both your entire signup sheet and individual slots. While not required, they can help guide your volunteers further and provide more information. You can add information about allergies, preferences and general info about the event. You can also add a wish list to make it easier for your volunteers to bring exactly what you need!

What are the benefits of using a signup sheet template?

Signup sheet templates offer a ton of advantages for both organizers and volunteers and with Evite SignUp Sheets, you'll enjoy even more benefits than other digital and paper signup sheets! Some benefits our signup sheet templates offer include:

  • A 100% free experience (no subscriptions required!).
  • Shareable links for quick and easy sharing.
  • No need to create another login—you can use your existing Evite account.
  • The option to add a wish list to help your volunteers out.
  • Automatic reminders—we’ll remind everyone on your behalf.
  • An easy-to-use experience with eye-catching guided templates.
  • Clean, modern designs with no pop-up ads.
