This is the perfect Independence Day snack—DIY Firecracker Popcorn! Made with homemade Rice Krispie treats, kettle corn, red, white and blue chocolate and sprinkles, this treat is sure to be a big hit.

Ingredients
For the Rice Krispie treats
- 1 stick (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter
- 2 10-oz bags of marshmallows
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 10 cups Rice Krispies or crispy rice cereal
For the rest of the popcorn
- Kettle Corn
- Red Candy Melts
- White Candy Melts
- Blue Candy Melts
- Patriotic Sprinkles
Directions
For the Rice Krispie treats
- Place parchment paper over a cookie sheet
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the marshmallows and stir until melted and smooth, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and salt to combine.
- Add the rice cereal to the pot and stir until the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
- Press mixture onto cookie sheet into a thin later, about 3/4 inch and let cool for about an hour, or until it's room temperature.
To assemble
- Melt red, white and blue candy melts and drizzle on top of Rice Krispies Treats.
- Layer kettle corn on top, making sure to completely cover the treats and melted chocolate.
- Drizzle more red, white and blue candy melts on top of kettle corn.
- Add patriotic sprinkles (or, if you don’t have, a medley of red, white and blue sprinkles suffices).
- Let sit for 10 minutes for chocolate to cool and harden.
- Break off pieces into serving containers and enjoy!
