Kids 5-9 birthday posted by Esme on 10/30/08

While the first kids are coming, and some are late, have some cute appetizers like fruit leathers or little apple slices. Or maybe an older sibling or relative entertaining or playing a game with the kids. (Also have kids' songs soft in the background). When everyone's there, start off with some games that can get the kids moving around and excited (but not too crazy). After about a half-hour of short games, it might be time for a long, team game, like a scavenger hunt. Have the kids find little toys in maybe three or four groups, with an older sibling or relative coming with each group. In the end, every group should get little prizes. Now it's probably time for the food. Have water, juice and soda. Pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers. Or think outside of the box! Order in. Go to a party room at a kids' restaurant. After dinner, hand out little goodie bags. They might include small toys like cars or pens, and some neat candy (like something from Whole Foods). Maybe have separate bags for boys and girls. Now it's probably around 6:00 or 6:30. Have the parents pick up the kids after dinner between one time and a half hour later (ex. between 6-6:30). Lastly, after the party at home, tell your child who hosted the party not to talk about it at school!
