Go to a winery they will give you used corks.
I drilled a hole through the center horizontally and used this as a napkin ring... threaded raffia through the hole
wrapped it around a linen napkin and tied it with the cork in the center. If you want to use place cards you can stand a cork on end carve a slit on top and put a card stock place card in the cork-
Then I took more corks and a bought grape vine wreath with ivy on it, tied several corks together with wire (through the drilled holes) and attatched them 5 groups to the wreath, bought some fake grapes attatched them and a large wire ribbon bow. This was a great welcome wreath on the front door.
For centerpieces I used small plants from the dollar store, put the potted plants in a small rustic baskets and put corks over the dirt... then took more corks wired them together as candle holders for the table.I used 3 down a banquet table with candles of different heights in between. This way the centerpieces were lose so the vies of other guests was not obstructed.
I used a large clear vase from Walmart filled it with corks and water and put fresh flowers in the vase on my buffet table.
Then again as wine glass markers sliced the corks about 1/4 think drilled a small hole toward the top to string wire through, and wired these around the glasses, so the guests can write there name on the tag...
Once we played sherades, so in a large brandy sniffer from Walmart I placed corks with written topics on them, the guest had to take a cork out and play- this was a big hit, both decoratively and lively fun!
