Last weekend I threw a sophisticated surprise 40th birthday for my husband...The theme was black & white cocktail attire. I hired a jazz duo, bartender and blackjack dealer...we had over 40 people in the house, I set it up so that the open bar was in our loft with a view of the band and casino below, the catered sushi bar was in the dining area near the jazz band and I put the casino in the family room, moved furniture around to accomodate. This time no one was huddled in our kitchen like they usually are! I just decorated w/ 10 b & w balloons, some xmas lights on our deck and had Happy 40th decor hanging from the kitchen and loft ceilings..It looked smashing!!
